The Bar: Spring edition
The bees are buzzing, the flowers are blooming. Spring is in the air, and so is our next edition of The Bar. In this edition, we look back at the first quarter of 2023 and dive deep into tools.
For our Spring edition, we have two amazing keynotes in store:
👉🏼 Q1 Technology Wrap-up by Sam Hendrickx and Michiel Vandendriessche
Sam and Michiel are looking back at the first quarter of 2023. We look at what disrupted the technology field in a big way in the past few months. Think of generative AI, NLP, metaverse, cryptocurrency, space, and more. With many hands-on demos as an example, you'll have an excellent overview of our as-is today and what will hopefully break through in the next months.
👉🏼 Don't be a tool, be a tool user by Deevid De Meyer
From the earliest days of our species, humans have created tools to help us survive and thrive in the world. From flint knives to steam engines, our ability to invent and use tools has been a key factor in our success as a species. Today, we find ourselves on the cusp of a new era of tool-making, one that promises to revolutionize not just how we work, but how we think about ourselves and our place in the world. We're talking, of course, about the rise of generative AI, a set of technologies that allows machines to learn and create independently, without human guidance or intervention. In this keynote, we'll explore the historical context of human tool evolution, from the earliest stone tools to the latest deep learning algorithms, and consider what this means for the future of work, creativity, and human-machine interaction.
